Title I Information

What is Title I?
Title I, Part A (Title I) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is a 100% Federally funded supplemental education program that provides financial assistance to local educational agencies to improve educational opportunities for educationally deprived children. Title I programs are designed to help children meet the state content and performance standards in reading, language arts, and mathematics. In buildings with 40% or more poverty, LEAs may use the funds to upgrade the entire curriculum of the school and are Schoolwide Programs. In buildings with less than 40% poverty, programs are designed to help specific children and are targeted assisted programs. LEAs and schools are subject to consequences of school choice and supplemental education services if they do not meet adequate yearly progress as determined by the SEA.

How does our school use its Title I funds?
In part, that's up to you! Each year, the goals and use of Title I funds are determined in collaboration with our families and following the constraints of allowable spending under Title I, all other applicable laws, and School policy. In order to get the most family participation possible, we conveniently hold these meetings during times when families are already meeting--such as at PTA meetings and before parent-teacher conferences. Conference dates are available on our Academic Calendar. We also will communicate about these meetings in advance via our School communication tools.

Outside of our meetings, we are always looking for your feedback. You can complete the survey below at any time to provide us with your feedback. The surveys are in both English and Spanish.

Parents/Guardians' Right to Know
Under Title I, you also have additional rights as a parent/guardian. Please see a copy of the Right to Know letter we distribute annually, which aims to inform families of these rights.
